Scalability

Scalability is an attribute of a computing system that permits the system to quickly take on additional
users, transactions, and data storage without requiring fundamental alteration to the systems
programming or technical architecture. Scalability is especially relevant for small and midsize
companies, which are often characterised by rapid and unpredictable customer and transaction growth in
the face of limited resources to institute major changes in business systems or processes.
To satisfy these scalability needs, VillageMall has designed its web-based accounting system to
rapidly and seamlessly scale to essentially any number of users, accounts, locations,
customers, and suppliers. Unlike other ASP solutions, VillageMall is based
on a fully decentralised network of VillageMall nodes. There is no 'mega'
processing centre or single point of failure.
As needed, VillageMall can quickly expand its servers or network nodes, to guarantee
performance for any number of customers, users, or transactions, permitting the VillageMall
system
to grow apace with rapidly expanding small businesses. VillageMalls monthly subscription-based
service additionally gives start-ups and other small firms immediate access to high-performance
accounting without forcing them to commit to a large up-front investment and without disrupting their
operations by having to switch accounting systems as their businesses grow.
